My Pentax *ist DL problem, please help?
i stored my camera for 4 months without batteries in it (thought that was right) now every set of AA’s reads on the indicator no charge and wont even power one fire of the shutter. with every new set you can view photos for about 30-45 seconds before id cuts of saying no battery…
what is the problem? exactly one month out of my warranty too! all this makes me sick.
any help is greatly appreciated.

Are the batteries and/or camera cold? If so, try warming them up to room temperature first.
Check whether you have a bad batch of batteries. Before putting the next set in the camera, find something else, such as a flashlight, to briefly test them in, to make sure they are good.
Are you using Alkaline AA batteries? Pentax says in the *ist DL manual that they don’t recommend them. Try a set of CR-V3 batteries instead, or if they aren’t available, a set of Lithium AA batteries.
You might also try resetting the camera by removing and replacing the backup battery.
If none of the above works, you should contact Pentax or a reputable camera repair shop. But before agreeing to pay for a repair, be sure to check out current prices to just replace it, which may be cheaper than repairing it.
